I just read someone's blog regarding their "experience" with depression. Now I have absolutely no right to judge whether or not someone is having depression or not but by seeing that blog post even a blind man can tell that THAT isn't depression. It hurts to see how many people taking depression ever so lightly.
What is depression exactly? I don't know for sure but I definitely know depression isn't a one-off thing that happens once or twice. It actually happens throughout. I wonder how most people perceive depression as nowadays. It's definitely not something to joke around with.
Most people say they have depression just because of that one incident that happened. I was unhappy with that blog post because that particular person wrote as if doing something that will distract you will cure depression. It won't. Curing depression takes time. Depression doesn't happen in a day and it doesn't get cured in a day as well.
People who have real depression don't usually post their disorder to the internet so openly now do they? Yes, a lot of them decide to post about their experience, but that's only AFTER overcoming depression.
I think it's a little unfair to people who really have depression for you to self-proclaim that you have depression when all you're facing is just a tiny obstacle. It might mislead others into thinking that depression is but a small matter. It's not. It's a serious matter and it's not funny at all to claim that you have it when you don't.
Yes, depression is an accumulation of all the bad thoughts or experiences you've ever faced in life, and it gets worse as the time goes by if you choose to drown in it. I think it's super important not to deal with all these by yourself. Whether or not you're depressed, get help.
You don't have to face all of this alone.
