Chapter 299: 2015 Reflections

Hello it's me again. Yes, purposely rushing to get to the 299th post to end my 2015 hehe. (Lol okay that isn't relevant anymore as it's 2016 already. Didn't manage to finish this post because I was out last year [ahahahha that pun]) Let's do some reflections this year shall we?

1. Helped with my first college event - SAC Charity Drive

It was pretty amazing, but definitely tiring. What's tiring isn't the selling, but the preparation itself. Now that I'm officially in SAC, I'll put whatever lessons I learnt from this year into good use for next year's event!

SAC was awesome enough to have given me opportunities to design some posters; some made the cut, some didn't, a good learning opportunity all the same.

Here are some of my designs:

This took way too long to finalize hahaha I have at least 15 different documents just for this design.
Glad it made it.

This didn't make the cut. I was a bit disappointed but it's okay.

One of my favourite designs! Thoroughly enjoyed making this one though it got a bit too stressful at first because of the deadline. But then I guess the deadlines are the ones that make you squeeze your brain until you come up with at least something. Everyone liked it; best of all, it was pasted almost all around college!

I guess the best thing to have happened is the people you meet! People like Elysse, Crystal, Edward, Hoong Chau, Evelyn and Kiat Shen, though I have to admit that the biggest regret was not having the chance to interact with everyone in the committee. They have never made me (and the rest of the sub) feel any less "superior" just because we're from the sub. I enjoyed working and talking crap with them because they make me feel really comfortable around them, for that I am grateful. At times they will tease you (not the case for HC because he never stops the teasing/ignoring/criticizing LOL) but at least you know they're real.

2. Went for my first run in KL

3. Went to my first college conference

4.  Went to Sunway Lagoon for the first time since I was a 3-year-old

At the same time, gained some new friends. :)

5. Sent CH off to India :'(

I could cope with it better the second time I sent him off (September) though. :P

6. Met one of the most influential and dedicated lecturers

Mr Simon! He's honestly one of those lecturers that connect with the students effortlessly and make a great impact on their lives. I'll never forget all his teachings and jokes; truly an amazing person as a whole.

7. Applied, scored an interview, and pinned down a scholarship

Forever grateful for this.

8. Met Audrey, Bobo (second time HEHE) and Careen! (just noticed that makes ABC)

So much love for them!

9. Tried nerf guns for the first time

No second time though HAHAHAHA because the nerf guns were too expensive to buy and I doubt I'll have time to play this year anyway.

10. Had my first part-time job as an invigilator

11. Went to my first college camp

12. Graduated from CAT, officially in ACCA

13. Bought my first Flyknit

He's beautiful, isn't he?
Introducing my Flyknit Lunar 3.
Special thanks to ZC and CW for accompanying me to buy ahahhaha

14. First trip with college friends

Hey, listing down highlights of my year really helped me feel that I've accomplished a lot of things! It's amazing how a simple scroll of pictures can bring you back to memory lane. In 2015, I had a lot of "first times" and it's awesome to see that I didn't waste my year away. I know, between those highlights, are a few bitter memories, but hey it's all part of life! Some are unavoidable, and it's going to happen every year regardless what wishes you make to a shooting star.

In 2016, I want to be happy. I want the people around me to be happy. I want to accomplish a lot of things just like last year. I want to be able to have the strength and determination to overcome all the obstacles that life is going to throw me.

Thank you everyone, for making 2015 SO SO AMAZING.

Here's to the first post of the new year!

Chapter 290: Being a CAT-ACCA student

Hello. I just wanna get this off my chest for a bit. DISCLAIMER: This is merely my own understanding of the whole programme. Please don't flame me for wrong information lol. WHAT ARE CAT AND ACCA?  CAT stands for Certified Accounting Technician. Yeah, people laugh at the term "technician" but in layman terms it is just another name for Foundation in Accountancy. No idea why they used CAT though; probably because they don't want people to mess it up with Foundation in Arts? Anyways, one thing I dislike is when people ask me what I'm currently doing. When I say CAT, EVERYONE doesn't get it. So I just say "Oh I'm doing accounting." which sounds pretty weak but then it's easier than explaining the whole shit a gazillion times to different people and yet they STILL don't get it. :( ACCA stands for Association of Chartered Certified Accountants. Alright, so here's the thing. ACCA is a professional body (sort of like a club, really.

Chapter 319: Reflections

It's 12:44am and I have a lot on my mind. I feel like I haven't been able to give my 100% since the beginning of the year. I'm not entirely sure why but I guess it was because it was fast approaching one of my goals in the firm which was to get promoted to Senior Associate and subsequently tendering afterwards. The plan in my head was solid - I start applying in June, just slightly 2 weeks before the official promotion announcement, I get a call from HR after a week or so, an official interview by the managers after 2 days, and in July I was good to go. Plans always deviate, don't they? In June I find myself still in the midst of peak; whoever said that June was the start of off peak is a liar. However I also found myself avoiding to update my resume; I think a part of me still wanted to stay. I believe it was the comfort zone calling - I have good bosses, my portfolio was okay (I am taking over a job meant for an Assistant Manager), I am familiar with everything that

Chapter 320: I've not been well recently

Not sure how to begin this post. My heart is beating really fast right now and I need to vent my feelings somewhere. I haven't been in a good mental state for a while now. I am suffering. I have been trying my best to see the good in everything and it has been exhausting. I guess I'd been dismissing my negative feelings because I feel like I should be grateful and appreciative for everything I have right now - which I am, don't get me wrong.  I'm having a difficult time relaxing properly recently. Even when I'm just chilling and watching Netflix, a sense of uneasiness just comes creeping on me; and it stays with me. I can't find anything that makes me happy anymore. I just feel so restless and on most days I feel like I've lost my sense of identity.  All the things that once make me happy have lost their ability to do so. I feel like a lifeless robot each day, just surviving and not living. Achievements aren't able to make me feel anything too. In fact
